Meet The Team

Founder & CEO
Vanessa Alcala, M.S. CCC-SLP
As the founder and CEO of TheraVolve Wellness Co., Vanessa is dedicated to helping individuals of all ages communicate with confidence and clarity. A first-generation college graduate fluent in English and Spanish, she holds a Master's in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of South Florida with expertise in bilingual speech therapy, executive communication coaching, and voice rehabilitation. As a Certified Dementia Practitioner and former caregiver to her abuela, she brings both clinical knowledge and deeply personal experience to her work with individuals and families navigating cognitive-communication changes.

Her clinical background includes outpatient and skilled nursing care, specializing in neurogenic communication disorders, dysphagia, bilingualism, dementia, and voice rehabilitation. She studied abroad in Brazil, focusing on dysphagia and aural rehabilitation, and contributed to research at the University of South Florida on bilingual external visual memory aids for individuals with dementia.
As a pregnant frontline healthcare worker during the global pandemic, Vanessa witnessed firsthand the gaps in accessible, culturally responsive care, and knew patients deserved more. That experience fueled her mission to build TheraVolve into a practice rooted in compassion, connection, and quality.

As a mother of two raising bilingual children, she understands firsthand the power of language in shaping identity, connection, and everyday life. Outside the therapy room, Vanessa is also a public speaker and mentor, actively involved in the Tampa Bay Chamber Business Accelerator Program and the Hispanic Professional Women's Association. She is passionate about giving back to the community and empowering fellow healthcare professionals through her brand "Vanessa on the Mic."

Clinical Fellow Speech-Language Pathologist
Genesis Ramirez, M.S. CF-SLP
Born and raised in Miami, FL, Genesis is a bilingual Clinical Fellow in Speech-Language Pathology (CF-SLP) who values family-centered care. She earned her bachelor's degree from Florida International University and her master's degree from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences.

Genesis discovered her passion for the field through her younger brother's speech therapy journey. Witnessing his growth and the impact of one dedicated SLP not only inspired her career path but continues to guide her work with families today.

Throughout her academic career, she was actively involved in philanthropy and community service, supporting children, families, and underserved communities. She carries those values of connection, service, and compassion into her clinical practice.
Previously working as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA), Genesis has gained hands-on experience across settings, including school-based services and an inpatient rehabilitation hospital, where she supported individuals with a range of communication and cognitive-linguistic needs.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending quality time with loved ones and traveling, especially her annual trips to visit family in Puerto Rico.

Speech-Language Pathologist
Mikayla Castillo, M.S. CCC-SLP
A Tampa native, Mikayla Castillo, M.S., CCC-SLP, is passionate about helping individuals regain their voice and confidence in communication, with a strong dedication to adult speech therapy, cognitive-communication, and voice rehabilitation. She earned her Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from Nova Southeastern University and holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
Mikayla has gained hands-on experience in acute care, pediatric therapy, and school-based settings.
Her clinical background includes work at Tampa General Hospital, where she assessed and treated language, motor speech, cognitive, swallowing, and voice disorders in an adult acute care setting, as well as pediatric home health and private practice.
Having completed her Clinical Fellowship under the mentorship of Vanessa Alcala, M.S., CCC-SLP, Mikayla delivers high-quality, evidence-based care that empowers her clients.

Outside of work, Mikayla has been a lifelong dancer, training since the age of four and continuing to perform today. She also has a deep love for traveling and exploring national parks, with a goal of visiting every U.S. national park—she's already checked off seven! A food enthusiast, she especially enjoys Greek cuisine and discovering new Mediterranean flavors. She believes that, much like dance, communication is a powerful form of self-expression, and she brings that same energy, dedication, and passion into every therapy session.
