Meet The Team

Founder & CEO
Vanessa Alcala, M.S. CCC-SLP
Vanessa is the founder and CEO of TheraVolve Wellness Co., where she helps individuals of all ages communicate with confidence and clarity. A first-generation college graduate raised in a tight-knit bilingual family, Vanessa earned her Master's in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of South Florida, with specialties in early intervention, bilingual speech therapy, voice rehabilitation, and cognitive-communication disorders. She studied abroad in Brazil, focusing on dysphagia and aural rehabilitation, and contributed to USF research on bilingual external visual memory aids for individuals with dementia. As a Certified Dementia Practitioner, and former caregiver to her abuela, she brings both clinical expertise and deeply personal experience to her work with families.
The vision for TheraVolve was forged during the most demanding chapter of her career. As a pregnant frontline healthcare worker during the global pandemic, Vanessa saw firsthand how easily patients fell through the cracks, especially Spanish-speaking and underserved families navigating recovery without culturally responsive care. She knew patients deserved more. That conviction became TheraVolve: a practice rooted in compassion, connection, and clinical excellence, where every client is seen, heard, and supported in the language that feels most like home.
As a mother of two raising bilingual children, Vanessa understands firsthand the power of language in shaping identity and connection. Beyond the therapy room, her passion projects center on lifting up other healthcare professionals, as a public speaker, mentor, and co-host of Sip & Social, a first-of-its-kind national networking event for women in healthcare. Through her signature public speaking course, she empowers fellow clinicians to step into their voice and create impact beyond the clinic. She is also actively involved in the Tampa Bay Chamber Business Accelerator and the Hispanic Professional Women's Association.

Clinical Fellow Speech-Language Pathologist
Elizabeth Kelleran, M.S. CF-SLP
Elizabeth is a Clinical Fellow in Speech-Language Pathology (CF-SLP) and a Jacksonville, Florida native. She earned both her B.A. in Communication Sciences and Disorders and her M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of South Florida. As part of the TheraVolve team, Elizabeth works with both pediatric and adult clients, drawing on training that spans the full continuum of care, school-based, acute, and outpatient.
Before joining TheraVolve, Elizabeth gained a rich and varied clinical foundation. As a school-based SLP-A and graduate clinician at the USF Speech, Language, and Hearing Clinic, she developed a deep interest in pediatric language and literacy intervention. Her adult clinical placements at the C.W. Bill Young VA Medical Center and the USF Health Voice Center gave her the chance to work alongside voice- and swallowing-specialized SLPs and laryngologists, treating complex voice, upper airway, and swallowing disorders.
Together, these experiences shaped her commitment to interdisciplinary, patient-centered care, a value that fits naturally into TheraVolve's collaborative approach.
Throughout her academic career, Elizabeth also supported international students and instructors at USF, where she co-authored and taught an English pronunciation and communication workshop, helping non-native speakers communicate with greater clarity and confidence.
That experience reflects what she brings to every client today: patience, precision, and a real belief that everyone deserves to be heard.
Outside the clinic, Elizabeth can be found shark tooth hunting in Venice, Florida, curled up with a good book, or planning her next trip.

Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant
Brianna Athey, B.A., SLPA
Brianna is a graduate of the University of South Florida, where she earned her B.A. in Communication Sciences and Disorders. As part of the TheraVolve team, she works alongside our pediatric clients to support language development, articulation, and the foundational communication skills children need to express themselves and connect with the people around them.
Brianna brings hands-on experience working with children across a range of needs, including those on the autism spectrum and with Down syndrome. Before joining TheraVolve, she served as an SLPA at a local academy serving students with unique learning needs, collaborating with the ESE team to deliver individualized therapy and tailor each student's plan to their strengths and goals. Earlier, as a classroom substitute teacher, she built a strong foundation in classroom management, behavior strategies, and positive reinforcement, skills that continue to shape her therapy style today.
Brianna is especially passionate about early intervention and language development, and is known for her warmth, responsiveness, and ability to meet kids exactly where they are. She brings a growth mindset to every session and a genuine love of helping young communicators grow into confident, connected ones.
Outside of work, Brianna enjoys getting lost in a good fantasy novel and unwinding with a favorite movie.
